CJ first spoke to me about a personal branding photo shoot back in March. Deep down in lockdown town, and so we had a long time to think, plan and create the perfect shoot for her. And this Saturday we finally had the chance to put those plans into action.

Personal Branding is your most unique and powerful tool. Because you have something that will make you stand out from the rest. You. And a lot of what makes you, you, is your story. Which is why my personal branding photography is more than just a headshot, I aim to tell a story too, about you and about your brand. In a more and more virtual world, people need something to relate to and the things people relate to the most is a face and a story.

CJ’s story is an inspiring one. After years of being in a system that squished her creativity, She recently decided to make a change that would fire her soul with passion, utilise her incredible skills and make her delight in life every day . This change was starting her own business, Story & Psyche. All change is brave. Adding additional change to the 2020 whirlwind is extra brave. As a Creativity & Habits Coach, Storyteller and writer, CJ will guide you in embracing your creativity and letting it into your life.

I completely tap into this vibe! I spent years in a job that I thought I hated. You know the type of job that gives you the Sunday night blues, makes you feel like you’ve been pressed into a tiny little box - that feeling of arrrgh! But after starting my own business in my most coveted display of creativity - photography, I realised something. After weeks of admin, spreadsheets, invoicing and emails, I still found it necessary to schedule in a ‘creative hour’ every other day. Whether this be taking my camera for a walk, baking a cake or painting, it didn’t matter - as long as I was creating something. And I realised I didn’t hate my old job, I hated the lack of flexibility to be creative. I struggled with a schedule that had no give for habits that would make me happy - someone else’s schedule.

Having my own business allows me to schedule my day, my life - my way. And this was the right move for me so I could as CJ would put it, ‘live my best creative life’.

Ambitious, whimsical, visionary - are Story & Phyche’s values and so we kept these in mind as we headed out to a gorgeous Autumnal forest on Saturday. The weather was moody - wind swirling leaves around, grey frowning skies and every now then a burst of light. The perfect setting for CJ’s photoshoot, so we could create some magic.

Apart from being brave enough to become a small business owner. CJ'went the extra mile with bravery. She stepped up, stood out and became visible in her industry by showing her face with a personal branding photo shoot.
