The Vulnerability of Change.

Despite the pauses we’ve experienced as a society, the world stops for no one. This year has brought a lot of change for me.

I will be taking Christine Havill Photography south for the winter. I’ve absolutely loved working with business women across the UK and I hope to bring light and visibility to those women in Zimbabwe who deserve to have their stories told.

I’ll be taking the time to live and grow in my home country, spend time with family and continue to run my brand with it’s core values - Authenticity, Visibility and Bravery.

This has not been an easy decision. One that has brought on overwhelming rushes of emotion. A tool I’ve always used with overwhelm, is creativity, it’s a fantastic way to sooth your brain. In 2020 the wonderful Nine Dots team had us do a self portrait challenge, I decided to do that again this year, I photographed my emotions and the vulnerability of change.

They say change is good, but it is also terrifying, uncomfortable and painful. I’ve learnt that the real magic happens in the vulnerable moments and it’s how you navigate them that makes it a positive thing. I’m grateful for these moments and I’ve learnt to view these times with curiosity and use them as building blocks to a better future.

Last year, I spoke about the power of confidence photography - celebrating yourself through a photoshoot…when things have changed and you embrace yourself feeling good. In 2023 I will turn this focus to the process of that change, the in-between, the raw moments. I’ve set myself the challenge of photographing the vulnerable moments that comes with growth and change.

Change comes, whether we like it or not, it’s how we ride the wave that counts.
