What's behind a logo?

When I first launched Christine Havill Photography, I bought a fantastic logo off of Etsy and it’s served me really well for the past year or so. But it was not MY logo, ya know?

So I decided to find a small business owner, who produced work that I love and had similar brand values as me, after some time on Instagram and Esty I came across Gemma from Gypsy and Bear Studio - Branding for Adventurous Souls and fell in love with her work!

I reached out to her immediately to ask if she would commission me a logo. Gemma hand draws all of her logos and her attention to detail is excellent. She also has the patience of a saint as I went back and forth on lots of little details - she accommodated all my requests with much grace!

I explained my brand to Gemma, drawing on the fact that I am an outdoor photographer and focus on helping women in business become more visible in their industry, step out with confidence and feel awesome about themselves throughout the whole process. You can see the nature and feminine elements in my logo immediately, and as always, the camera is the central point. If I were to close my eyes and shift myself into my happy place, it would be in one of my sisters or my mom’s garden - full of life, growth and flowers. So there is a personal touch to this logo too. And why not, the most important thing in my brand is…me! I also love the wild and fun feel of the logo - my photoshoots are super natural with lots of giggles and ‘wiggle it out’ moments!

I also feel my logo highlights the power of visibility. Of putting yourself centre stage in your business, which is my personal branding ethos. I believe authentic representation of you (heyo personal branding photography) and your brand throughout all your content is your most important marketing tool. I wanted my logo to represent this and connect to my ideal client.

I knew Gemma understood my photography passion as she spent 7 years as a photographer herself. Gemma and I share another passion - branding that is unique, powerful and tells a story. If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know my focal point of the personal branding photography I offer is story telling.

The whole point of a logo is to identify and build a brand message that is unique to you and your business and this is the logo for me. I also completely adore the fact my new logo, a logo created just for my brand was drawn by someone with the same passions and values.

So here are my new logos. I LOVE them and I feel they reflect me and brand perfectly. Thank you Gemma.
